At a certain moment, I would guess that about half of the population dreams of going to an exotic place. And, with holidays – and vacation times – just around the corner some already have plane tickets. If you are making travel plans, stop by the App Store and download this important travel application for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

TripAssist by Expedia: Before you can enter the sky, you must book a plane ticket. Luckily, Expedia, together with experts who don’t need to find cheap airline tickets, came to the rescue with TripAssist. This application performs many of the same services that you find on the Expedia website: users can compare prices and book flights, hotels or even rental cars. However, the use of TripAssist does not end there. The application will also send alerts to remind you of your flight or to notify you of delays or schedule changes. If you want to change your reservation, TripAssist can do that too, often at no additional cost.

Times are tough. I know it… you know it… everyone knows it. Many people are no longer able or wanting to spend the big bucks that some outdoor sports require. Boating for example can be a very expensive outdoor recreational activity. Gas prices have sky-rocketed and storage fees are high. Fun and carefree days out on the motorboat are no longer a stress-free activity.

Outdoor recreation should not only be enjoyed by everyone but it should also cost very little if any money as well as be completely stress and worry free. There are enough things to be concerned with without having to worry about not being able to enjoy the great outdoors with our family and friends.

Luckily there are several fantastic activities that cost very little money, if any at all. The outdoor recreation activities below can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Frisbee at the park Hiking in the trails – if you have kids with you it can be really fun to do a treasure hunt (with a little pre-planning) Geo-caching Riding bikes Badminton Basketball or volleyball games

All of the above activities are freebies… meaning you don’t need to spend money to be able to enjoy them. One of my personal favorite all time outdoor activities happens to be kayaking. It can cost money to purchase a kayak of course or even to rent a kayak. If you are used to boating though I guarantee you the costs are minimal compared to running a gas-guzzling motorboat.

Kayaks are self-powered and eco-friendly. They do no harm to the environment and allow for some excellent exercise. I love the inflatable kayaks as they can be easily transported and taken anywhere.

Everybody loves Disneyland but kids are in particular attracted to this place. And why shouldn’t they? All their favorite cartoon characters are there. But how can we prepare our kids before meeting all of them?

Kids watch lots of cartoons, they enjoy playing with Disney toys and action figures so it would be their dream come true to go and see their favorites. However, some kids seem to have odd reactions when they actually get to meet Snow White, Mickey Mouse and so on.

This is why we should prepare our kids for this encounter. And if we come to think about it, it is quite normal. On TV, for example, these characters are very small but in real life they are bigger than most kids so this alone is frightening. So you could try to explain that Mickey and Cinderella are actually bigger just like mummy and daddy and even show them some pictures. Explain that the characters grow as he or she grows and they cannot remain small for all their life.

Also, you could rent some videos with all the rides and the games that are there so that you are aware of what is expecting you. Plan you trip carefully so that your kid won’t be disappointed if he/she doesn’t get to go on one of the rides because he/she is too small for example. Pick the right rides according to age also. Some things are just too scary for small children and having him/her shout his/her lungs out is not fun for either them or you.
